Is it a pie?

Dear whoever you are reading this right now:

Once upon a time, in a land where it snowed today, the first opportunity to chronicle my adventures in the kitchen arrived. A night without jazz band... Hmm, what to do??.. What else but crowd 5 people in a mini-kitchen creating a dinner for many. The adventures in my kitchen.

The menu for tonight:
2 Mexican Chicken Pizzas
1 Mashed Potato Pizza
1 Cheese Pizza (a frozen one...)
1 Pepperoni Pizza (again, frozen...)

Ingredients needed for the evening:
9 Awesome, God-given friends
2 Random College kids walking by to finish off the pizza!
5 (Hopefully) Delicious Pizzas
4 Heaping piles of laughter
1 Teaspoon of sarcasm
3 tablespoons of Arabic phrases... and Spanish... and French...
1 New pile of dishes to do later...

Let's see... First:
Mexican Chicken Pizza consists of pizza crust, salsa, chicken, and  Mexican cheese. Throw it together; throw it in the oven. And then make sure not to burn it :)

Second:
Mashed Potato Pizza-- recipe compliments of my mommy and adapted a bit for my needs. I grew up eating Mashed Potato sandwiches (I love me my carbs :D )and love anything potato related. What could be better than slapping a heaping pile of mashed potatoes on a pizza crust with some provolone cheese (called for Parmesan but provolone was yummy too) and rosemary and olive oil. (Psstttt... Did you know that rosemary is really good for you?? It was used in ancient Roman times as incense but then some physician began discovering it's health benefits including boosting mental activity, oral care, kidney care, and pain relief. Fun fact.. or at least I think so :D)

Third and Fourth:
Frozen Pizza Magic-- Do not forget to take it off the cardboard. This is a lesson I learned from my big sister many years ago :) It's always nice to be the younger sister and learn from example!  However, frozen pizza has nothing on home-made pizza and it's kind of nasty in comparison but it was still food, which college students don't turn down!

The best thing about college is you can guarantee your friends want food and if you cook for them they are very happy campers. Food is very essential to a college students daily life and it's wonderful when you get to spend each meal with friends and have wonderful conversation-- sometimes equaling "Isn't Jesus just sooo awesome? He created that yellow tree just because!" and sometimes ending in Megan rolling on the floor laughing hysterically! No matter what though you can be sure it will be a good time and a needed break from classes and homework.

Well I guess that's all I've got for tonight's adventures. True story: I like to cook and I'm glad you're following this God given adventure with me!

Days since last meal cooked: 0! Thank goodness! :)

Is it a pie or a pizza? I say it's a pizza!

Toodles for now,
Megan

Once Upon A Food Dream

Dear Food Lovers, College Students who want to Cook, Family Members who just happen to love me, and anyone else who stumbles upon this random blog:
Soooo... once upon a time, in a land where it was becoming colder by the day, there was a girl named Megan who realized how much she enjoyed cooking when she got to college. Normally, people don't think that anyone could make very extensive meals in a dorm room, but she set out to prove them wrong--and used her friends as guinea pigs to eat all of the food she attempted to make. She made vanilla pancakes, pastas galore, Mexican chicken, and oh so much more! And then on November 9th, she and her dear friend Christal--one of her "guinea pigs"-- began a blog which they shall be co-authoring.

I'm not sure that we quite have a plan for this blog yet but I know it will include somewhat of an account of the foods that I attempt to make in my dorm room, and probably if they fail, and beautiful pictures taken by Christal, and possibly some commentary from her, too. After all, there are two versions to every story, and two sides to every spoon. :)

So anyways, that's just a little note from me.

Days since last meal cooked: 3 days(AKA, eternity.)

Toodles for now,
Megan

{Insert Creative Title About Awkward Introductory Post Here}

Hello, world! My name is Christal. I like God and the color purple and the Nebraska Cornhuskers and taking pictures and writing stories.

Now that we're practically BFFs, wanna hear a true story?

I have never co-authored a blog before.

Until now, that is! See, I have this amazing friend named Megan, who is the inspiration/aspiration/reason behind this blog. We're both freshmen at a college in the Twin Cities, and we're both pretty far from home. We also have this other best friend, Mary, also a freshman and away from home. Megan cooks for us every weekend, and she is AMAZING at it. She comes up with some pretty creative recipes. (So far, to name a few, we've dined on her fine cuisine of fried peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, homemade-from-scratch sloppy joes, and French toast with cream cheese and orange zest. MMM. To all of the above.) She's the artisan in the kitchen, while my talents lie...as far away from the kitchen as possible. Seriously, I burn just about anything because I get distracted pretty easily. So instead, I take the pictures and Megan does the cooking!

Left-to-Right: Mary, Megan, & Christal

And that, dear reader, is the reason that I am now a co-author of a blog...mostly for the pictures. :)

Also, just a head's up. The Megan-Mary-Christal friendship consists of indecision (Hello, blog title!), Finding Nemo quotes, tactfully applied insults, sad stories, poking each other, "Guess what" statements, and Megan cooking for us (Hello again, blog title!). So if you see any references to any of the above in future blog posts: No, we're not crazy. We're sisters.

So, dear reader, this could be an adventure...for all of us. This is life. And cooking. And indecision.

Bon appetite!
